My philosophy of education has grown so much over the last four years. I believe that education is an extremely important piece of everyone’s life. Through everything we do, we learn something which helps to expand our knowledge. Education will only get better in the future due to all new technology and programs made for schools. I am glad to be able to say that one day I will be a teacher helping to broaden the knowledge of my students.
With this also comes the shaping of my worldview. My worldview has been shaped by all things through education. All the guest speakers, readings and classes have shown me many things that I never knew of before. With each speaker, was a view I had to gain and realize all this information I was becoming aware of would be beneficial as a teacher. Now it is my job to take with me what I have learned and be able to put them into place in the classroom.
My many experiences with students helped me realize the diversity of my learners and the ways I can adapt lessons to make each student successful in their own way. I have come to realize just how much some students need our support and help. Sometimes this is the only support and help they receive in their lives. As a teacher, I am also a role model and I have to make sure that I am a positive and approachable reinforcement for my students. Creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for each student makes them learn and creates a positive relationship between my students and myself.
Education also works both ways; as I educate my students they will also educate me. I believe that this is something I will greatly appreciate over the years. Teaching is part of the education and I hope that I will be able to see my students succeed and help them when they need it. By gaining the respect needed, this process will be so much easier. One day I want to look back on my career and remember all the students that I hope I touched and know that somewhere in the world they are successful.
